GLADSTN LONDON JOURNEYS TO NASHVILLE

The Gladstonian Journal invites you into the stylish and exciting world of Gladstn London, sharing new experiences, connections and possibilities. We all have a weakness or two in life and ours is beautiful bags and travel!
If our bags could talk, where would they say they had been?
For this Gladstn London Journey we’re in Nashville, the Music City of USA

Honky Tonks, hot chicken & history!

Nashville’s most famous strip is a lot of fun, with honky-tonk bars, neon lights, and live music pouring from every door. It’s a must in Nashville. Head over to Robert’s Western World, one of our favourites for some authentic honky-tonk tunes, cold beer, and even better company. It’s Music City in its purest form anytime of the day!

Echoes of the past: Country Music's Soulful Heritage

Head over to The Ryman Auditorium, the "Mother Church of Country Music.” Built in 1892 as a tabernacle, this historic venue has evolved into one of the most celebrated music halls in the world. Don’t forget to get your picture taken on the stage graced by music royalty and take a look at the signed posters on the walls from the legends of music who have played this iconic venue

For a treasure trove of country music history and culture the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is a must see. Dive into the heart of Music City and understand its enduring influence on American culture. Next door is Hatch Show Print one of the oldest and most iconic letterpress print shops in the United States. Renowned for its bold, colorful posters that have advertised everything from concerts to sporting events since 1879.

Step off Broadway and into Nashville's Heart

Nashville has plenty of beautiful spots to explore. Centennial Park is home to a full-scale replica of the Parthenon, complete with a 42-foot statue of Athena, a nod to the city’s reputation as the "Athens of the South." If you’re up for a scenic hike, head to Radnor Lake State Park, where trails wind through beautiful woodlands and around a serene lake – keep an eye out for deer and waterfowl. For a change of pace, take a river cruise down the Cumberland River on the General Jackson Showboat for dinner, music, and views of the Nashville skyline.

Trendy, artsy and full of energy Nashville is all about its neighbourhoods. Wedgewood-Houston home to our favourite place to stay, Soho house is a creative hotspot of studios and workshops. 12 south is all about boutiques, bakeries and cafes and East Nashville is the hip neighbourhood!

For some hot chicken & Southern charm

Nashville's famous hot chicken
Nashville's famous hot chicken

No trip is complete without the legendary hot chicken. A revenge dish created by a jilted lover so the story goes, Nashville has been serving it since the 1930s. Head to Hattie B's or Prince's Hot Chicken Shack but be careful, it's hot!

Nashville’s food scene is a melting pot of cultural influences with so many great restaurants to choose from. We love Rolf & Daughters and the Geist Bar for special occasions. Five Points is a must for Pizza – all great! If you prefer coffee, cake or ice cream we love these - Frothy Monkey, Five Daughters Bakery & Bobbie’s Dairy Dip

A finally the very serious question of where for our aperitivo! For us it has to be almost anywhere in Nashville! Some many amazing dive bars to choose from. We love Bastion & Never Never but your choice is endless.

A really fun city with great hospitality, music food and art. A place to let your hair down and have some fun!. Have bag will travel! Enjoy Nashville.
