GLADSTN LONDON JOURNEYS TO ST MORITZ
For this Gladstn London Journey we’re in St. Moritz for 48 hours with a trip on the Glacier Express to Zermatt.
A spirit hard to pin down and a place to feel alive!
Host of the Winter Olympics in 1928 and 1948, St. Moritz is prime snow-sports territory, with a paradise of idyllic paths for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and sledding. Downhill skiing is the siren call of these mountains and there is plenty to do! A favourite thing if you are after a more eccentric joy ride head to the St.Moritz- Celerina bob run for a ride with the professionals or be a spectator at the amazing Cresta run. If you are after something a little more relaxing, hire your skates and enjoy the plein-air ice-skating rink in the Olympic Park. Visiting in February you can also enjoy White Turf and The ICE.
Every King & Queen needs a palace
Our favourite place to stay is the sexy Swiss grande dame with views to die for – Badrutt’s palace. Voted one of the top 50 hotels in the world its perfect for skiing, cocktailing, people-watching and its famous Rolls Royce! We love the luxury of Old and New World along with the magnificant views of the lake, the perfect spot for breakfast on a cold winter morning.
Deliciously unforgettable
It’s a gastronomic scene second to none. Paradiso is the perfect mountain club with spectacular views and great music. If you have been on the slopes all day, head to the relaxed Roo Bar for the perfect quench thirster. The evenings are great fun - Chesa Veglia is an old converted farmhouse with great restaurants or, for a more glamorous evening of dinner and dancing, it has to be Kings House Social.
The Glacier Express to Zermatt
This is a must do if you have the time. Sit back in Excellence Class on the Glacier Express and take a luxury journey through the Swiss Alps to the Matterhorn and Zermatt. “The slowest express train in the world” will give you unparalleled views in complete luxury. Enjoy the ride!
And finally the very serious question we are always asked; where for our aperitivo in St Moritz? For us it has to be the Renaissance Bar in the Badrutt’s Palace Hotel, fabulous cocktails and people watching!
A beautiful place to feel alive with a spirit of glamour and eccentricity.
Have bag will travel! Enjoy St Moritz
